Göbeklitepe

Göbeklitepe, located in Turkey, is the oldest known temple complex in the world and dates back to the Pre-Pottery Neolithic period (around 11,000 BCE). Its discovery has challenged traditional views of the Neolithic Revolution and the development of civilization, suggesting that religious and social structures may have preceded agriculture.

Göbeklitepe contains a rich collection of symbols, including animal engravings and abstract motifs, which are believed to represent early forms of symbolic communication. Research into the meaning of some of these symbols is still ongoing.
